Nomad Go Where

Taiwan

Taiwan is one of Asia's most liveable places for remote workers: extremely safe, with fast and reliable internet, an excellent metro and high-speed rail, and night markets and mountains on the doorstep. Taipei is the obvious base, with a strong café culture, good coworking and an easy routine, though it costs more than Southeast Asia.

UK, US, Canadian, Australian and EU passport holders get 90 days visa-free. Taiwan's Digital Nomad Visa grants six months and, since 1 January 2026, can be extended in six-month steps up to two years. It requires an annual income of US$40,000 (US$20,000 for applicants aged 20 to 29) and around US$10,000 in average monthly savings.

Autumn, from October to early December, is the most pleasant season. Summers are hot and humid with typhoons possible from July to September, and winters in Taipei are mild but damp. English is common among younger people and in the city centre, and translation apps cover the rest.
