Ao Nang, the main beach town in Krabi province, is a pleasant choice for nomads who want limestone scenery, island hopping and climbing on their doorstep rather than a busy work scene. It is a resort town first and a remote-work base second, which makes it best for people who are self-motivated, travelling as a couple, or happy to trade community for views and a slower pace.
Most longer-stay visitors live just back from the beach in Ao Nang itself or along the quieter stretch towards Nopparat Thara, where villas and apartments are cheaper. Krabi Town, about 20 minutes away, is more local and cheaper again. There is little dedicated coworking: KLW Coworking Coliving Workspace in Ao Nang is the stand-out, open around the clock with several rooms and a strong reputation among visitors, and Lekker Café on the walking street is a reliable air-conditioned spot for laptop work. Beyond that, cafés and hotel lobbies fill the gap.
Fibre is common in hotels, condos and cafés and speeds are usually fine for calls, though connections in older guesthouses can be patchy. Monthly rentals start around 12,000 to 15,000 baht, and a comfortable month comes to roughly 1,200 to 1,400 US dollars. You will want a scooter, and longtail boats to Railay and the islands are part of daily life. Krabi International Airport is about 40 minutes away. The dry season from November to April is the time to come; from May to October the Andaman monsoon brings rough seas and frequent downpours.
The honest limitations are the thin nomad community and the lack of proper coworking, so you may spend more time working alone than you expect. The beachfront is crowded and touristy in high season, and the beach itself is not the best in the region. Many businesses also scale back during the rainy months.
