Nomad Go Where

Cambodia

Cambodia is one of the cheapest places in Southeast Asia to base yourself, and the US dollar is used almost everywhere, which makes budgeting simple. Siem Reap combines the temples of Angkor with a relaxed small-city routine, Phnom Penh is a fast-changing capital with good restaurants and a business crowd, and Kampot is a sleepy riverside town for people who want quiet above everything.

Most Western visitors need a 30-day tourist visa, either as an e-visa through the official portal or on arrival, extendable once by 30 days, and must complete the free e-Arrival card before flying. There is no digital nomad visa; longer stays use the ordinary business (EB) visa, which can be extended for one to 12 months.

Internet is slower than in Thailand or Vietnam, and power cuts happen outside the main cities, so a good data SIM from Smart or Cellcard is essential. The cool dry season from November to February is the most comfortable time, while April and May are very hot. Overland border crossings with Thailand were disrupted in 2025, so check the current situation before travelling by road.
